About Wouter Bakhuis
I studied Biomedical Sciences at the Utrecht University from 2012 till 2015 because I was interested in scientific research. However, during this bachelor programme, I did miss patient-based healthcare. That is why I studies Selective Utrecht Medical Master Utrecht (SUMMA), to become a physician-researcher (MD & MSc). During SUMMA, I became fascinated by one organ: the heart. After seeing a cardiothoracic surgery, I was hooked and wanted to become a cardiothoracic surgeon! I finished medical school in August 2019, after which I started working as a resident at the cardiothoracic surgery department at the Erasmus MC, Rotterdam.
