About Wouter Huijgen

Experienced process development scientist interested in applied and scientific R&D to come to a more sustainable society, in particular development of novel biobased processes. MSc in Chemical Engineering, specialisations: environmental engineering and process technology, from University of Twente in the Netherlands (2001). PhD in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University (2007), thesis “CO2 sequestration by mineral carbonation", in collaboration with the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) and Delft University of Technology, both in The Netherlands. Currently employed at Cosun RD & I working on process development for food ingredients and biobased products, including biorefinery processes using residual streams from agro-food industry. Leading the expertise cente biorefinery within Cosun RD & I, which is a knowledge platform and competence development centre. Finally, special associate professor at Wageningen University (1 day a week) with a focus on biorefinery process engineering. Coinventor of over 10 patent applications and (co)author of over 40 scientific publications (h-index 33).
