About Xavier Nunes

Xavi Nunes is currently dedicated to desert adventure racing after 17 years of experience in various companies, start-ups, and online businesses in Europe and the Middle East. Originally from Mem-Martins (Sintra), Xavi graduated in Business Management and Administration from ISEG. His professional journey began at HP in France, followed by a period at Nestlé Waters in Barcelona. In 2009, during the financial crisis, Xavi took a risk and moved to Dubai to build a career with Mondelez. After 8 years in several marketing positions at Mondelez, he decided to leave the corporate world in 2017 to focus on freelance work, online businesses, and his first experience in sports with ASICS. In 2019, he returned to the corporate sector with Adidas to manage the Reebok brand for the Middle East. With the arrival of the pandemic in 2020, Xavi fully dedicated himself as CMO to his food e-commerce business, elGrocer.com, which he had founded and co-invested in since 2016. At the end of 2020, the company was sold the company to the largest telecommunications group in the region and moved to Madrid. After a few months of sabbatical, he returned to work as a marketing consultant for a German company and UTMB Spain and, in 2021, began working for Marathon Des Sables, the world’s leading desert adventure race organization. Since then, Xavi has not stopped exploring the world, combining his passion for ultramarathons, travel, and adventure. After nearly 20 years in the corporate world, he finally found his true calling and is committed to this new chapter for the next 10 to 15 years.
