About Xavier Uhlen

24+ years of professional experience in business controls, internal audit, risk management, compliance, ESG and sustainability leadership, in medium to large corporations with international footprint. My motto: sustainable business is smart business. Mastering the company's value chain, reducing risks, seizing innovation and growth opportunity while delivering real and meaningful impact is where it's at- I support organizations in monitoring risks throughout their value chain and business model. By identifying, measuring and treating internal and external risks, establishing appropriate processes, internal controls and governance frameworks, I help organizations ensure their business resilience, seize new opportunities and create long-term value- I support organizations in developing their ESG processes and reporting framework, in compliance with EU CSRD regulation- I lead Internal Audit departments on a global scale, covering operational, compliance and financial processes and providing risk assurance to Board level. Complementing an 18-years career in business controls, risk management and internal audit, in the last 6 years at Schréder(*) I have developed a strong acumen for sustainability, implementing and steering the company's ESG roadmap and related processes. Successful sustainability leadership entails continuous identification of sustainability risks and opportunities to the company's business model and value chain, results-driven approach, alignment with corporate strategy, and integrated governance structure. In complement to sustainability leadership, I have developed an expertise in sustainability reporting processes, ESG third-party assessments (e.g EcoVadis), and compliance with sustainability reporting regulations (e.g. CSRD), to demonstrate increased accountability to stakeholders and business partners. Over the course of my career I have worked in 3 different countries (France, Italy, Belgium) in large companies with international exposure. I work in English and French and have a good knowledge of Spanish and Italian. I have a Masters degree in Business Administration and Management from Grenoble Ecole de Management and an Executive Certificate in Change Management & Leadership for Sustainability from HEC Paris (2023). I am passionate about securing resilience and delivering lasting value to organizations through robust enterprise risk management systems and auditable sustainability practices.
