Background
About Xeo Velasquez
I'll start out by saying I am extremely surprised at where life has taken me thus far. My parents, originally of Nicaraguan origin, raised 4 children. They instilled in us the desire and need to work and become self sufficient. I have been working in food and beverage since I was 16 years old; serving ice cream and becoming key holder at a local Cold Stone Creamery in Miami, Florida. From there I made my way into restaurants and hotels. Greater aspirations led me to Chicago, Illinois where I began to develop incredible skills and knowledge in Food, Beverage and expert Hospitality. Working in places like The Wyndham Grand Hotel, The Florentine and Benny's Chophouse under the tutelage of Director of Operations Mitchell Schmieding. I had the honor of working with expert colleagues, some who were alumni of the great Charlie Trotter's restaurant in Chicago. New York City called my name for many years and 2015 I made the move. My dreams of performing and activism led me to enroll at Hunter College to study Theater and Sociology. While pursuing this I found myself intensively training as a Bartender with BLT GROUP at Casa Nonna in the theater district. This intense training led me to continue finding work all over New York City, seeking to expand my knowledge and expertise. This path has led me to work in places like Hotel Chantelle as a Lead Bartender, The Gansevoort Meatpacking, The Attic Rooftop, The Arlo Hotel, Nur as Lead Bartender, and my most current position as Head Bartender with Chef Salil Mehta and Beverage Director Colin Stevens at WAU NYC. I also currently work at Equinox Brooklyn Heights as a Front Desk Agent/Concierge. Part of what fuels my work ethic and hospitality is the belief that life is worth celebrating. I have a festive personality and this allows me to bring a unique experience to each individual I connect with. I believe in my ability to bring people together and fostering a positive work environment that brings out the best in my team and allows us to deliver an unforgettable experience.
