About Yacin Benavides

Mr. Yacin Benavides has over 19 years of experience working closely with individuals affected by substance use disorders (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD). His career has spanned multiple roles, beginning as an outreach worker and progressing to case manager, HIV counselor and tester, navigator, and implementer of various evidence-based interventions (EBIs). For the past five years, Mr. Benavides has been an integral part of MEDX Medical Experience By Migrant, serving as the HRSA RCORP Program Coordinator since its begining in 2020. In this role, he has successfully led program coordination and oversight, ensuring that strategic goals and objectives are met. His expertise extends to managing and collaborating on projects funded by HRSA, CDC, the Puerto Rico Department of Health, and HUD. He has played a key role in facilitating dialogue and knowledge exchange among community-based organizations (CBOs), HRSA and CDC representatives, as well as state and local health department officials. His ability to foster collaboration across sectors has made a significant impact during his years of labor.
