About Yagmur Kan

I’m a translational scientist with a strong background in oncology drug development, biomarker strategy, and IND-enabling research. I’ve led in vitro pharmacology efforts and collaborated across discovery, translational, and executive teams to move first-in-class therapeutics forward. In a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, I quickly learned to wear many hats and take on responsibilities beyond the bench. I genuinely enjoy the organization and structure needed to keep a lab running smoothly; the labeling machine is my best friend! Managing day-to-day lab operations, coordinating resources, and adapting to evolving priorities allowed me to develop strong project management skills (UVA-trained) and a practical approach to team leadership. & • Led in vitro studies supporting IND-enabling programs and biomarker discovery • Integrated molecular data with preclinical strategy to guide development • 5+ years of academic research on oncogenic tyrosine kinases & • Project management training (UVA-certified) including timeline coordination, task delegation, and scientific reporting • Hands-on experience in assay development, cell-based models, and mechanistic studies • Coordinated lab resources, procurement, vendor management, and equipment maintenance • Lab operations including inventory management, EH & S compliance, and scheduling & • First-author on peer-reviewed publications; experienced in presenting data • Developed internal decks, protocols, and narratives for R&D and leadership • Trained in science communication (Alan Alda Center, Stanford "Writing in the Sciences”) & - • Partnered with in vivo, translational, and external collaborators • Liaised with stakeholders including executive and clinical development teams • Mentored junior colleagues and promoted team engagement
