About Yesuneh Getachew

I am an aspiring researcher, consultant, and lecturer, boasting over ten years of experience in the fields of information and communication technology (ICT) and data science. As a man dedicated to a life of higher learning, collaboration, and exploration, my academic and research journey has not only revolved around the realms of academia but also the strife of public service and social outreach. My academic background consists of substantial groundings in research methodologies and technical skills, which I developed over my career. I co-authored four research papers and am working on a journal paper. As ICT4D Research Center Coordinator, I have been involved in projects at the intersection of technology and development, allowing me to lead different initiatives to improve community access to information and services. I have been at Bahir Dar University for almost ten years, and my service has included several positions that sharpened my leadership & technical skills. During the previous three years, I occupied the role of Software and Data Science System chairholder, where I directed research and development projects in both software engineering and data analytics. My technical skills have advanced through this role, which has also enhanced my mentoring and collaborative abilities with students and researchers. My leadership in field surveys for data collection supported research projects while I participated in community service initiatives where I applied technical skills to solve problems and enhance the living standards of the community. My focus lies in examining the potential of emerging technologies to drive sustainable development and create social impact. My comprehensive research background, combined with leadership skills and dedication to community service, positions me as a robust candidate for different positions. The prospect of engaging in pioneering research while working alongside distinguished faculty and fellow scholars, fills me with excitement.
