About Yi Panharith

Panharith is currently Deputy Head of Payment System Support Division, IT Department, National Bank of Cambodia. His primary duty is to provide Business and Technical support for domestic payment systems, and as senior officer at ICT Department for over 10 years, leading the Payment System Division undertaking development, innovation and support for the national payment system infrastructure. He has extensive experience in advisory to operation, policy development, business development, information system project and technology infrastructure governance. He led and advised several flagship projects in national payment infrastructure modernization: Centralized National Payment and Settlement Systems (2012), Fast Payment (2016), Cambodian Shared Switch (2018), Retail Pay (2019), Real-time Gross Settlement (2019),blockchain-payment Project BAKONG (2020) and Cross Institution Fund Transfer and Payment (2023). Furthermore, he also actively engaged in significant tasks related to forming regulation, governing procedure, supervision, financial inclusion, risk assessment, risk management, and cooperation among financial institutions, regulators, relevant institutions and development partners. Interests: financial technology, blockchain, distributed ledger technology, emerging information and communication technology, mobile technology, information management, knowledge management, ERP, business intelligence and innovative technologies such as AI, big data and cloud computing.
