About Yohan Partan

Yohan Partan currently resides in Ripon, California, guest conducting, teaching, and composing. He received a Master of Music degree in Choral Music, having studied under Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe, Dr. Nick Strimple, Dr. Christian Grases, and Don Brinegar at the University of Southern California. His orchestral conducting coaches at USC include Dr. Lucinda Carver and Larry Livingston. Yohan was accepted into the prestigious USC Thornton Mentorship Program, and was honored to be matched with Gail Samuel, the vice president and general manager of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Yohan received a Bachelor of Music degree with a Student Achiever Award in choral music education and vocal performance in Spring 2010 at California State University, Stanislaus. While an undergraduate student, Partan served for five years as church choir director and he was appointed chorus master for the Townsend Opera Players. He also worked with Dr. Daniel Afonso as assistant conductor of CSU Stanislaus Concert Chorale. During the summers of 2008 and 2009, Partan collaborated with Dr. Elizabeth Waterbury as assistant conductor at the Shasta Vocal Institute. In 2010, he was a guest conductor for the 18th annual Habitat for Humanity Concert in Modesto, CA. In of 2011, Partan prepared the USC Thornton Opera Chorus as chorus master for the Thornton opera production of Die Zauberflöte. He also taught USC Apollo Men's Chorus as co-conductor. In 2012, he prepared Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky under the coaching of Larry Livingston and conducted USC Thornton Symphony. Yohan also made his debut as an opera conductor with the Center Stage Opera, conducting Mozart's the Impresario and Puccini's Suor Angelica. From 2012 to early 2014, he served as the music director of the San Fernando Valley Youth Chorus, the Chorus Master of Center Stage Opera, the director of music at the Los Altos United Methodist Church of Long Beach.
