As the Group Regional Vice President Southern and East Africa at MTN, I oversee the operations and performance of 6 countries in the continent's fastest-growing and most dynamic telecoms market. With more than 20 years of experience in diversified industries, including FMCG, telecoms, and services, I have a proven track record of leading strategic initiatives, driving operational excellence performance, and delivering value to a broad range stakeholders. I am a Chartered Accountant with a Masters in Commerce in Financial Management and an Advanced Management Programme from Harvard Business School. I have served as CEO multiple times (one of the youngest CEO’s of a JSE-listed company at 29 years)and have been a C-suite executive for 20+ years. I have extensive expertise strategy, mergers and acquisitions and private equity, and have served as a non-executive director for various listed and unlisted companies including Absa Group and Life Healthcare. I am also passionate about social impact and innovation, and am the founder of Cuba Foundation and The Mentorship Boardroom, as well as a trustee of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. I am excited by the prospect of increasing inclusion by democratising opportunity/access and increasing transcendence of many. My mission is to leverage my skills and experience to transform and grow the telecoms and financial services in Africa and beyond.
