About Yolanda L.

I was first introduced to both micro and macroeconomics as part of my Bachelor's course requirement, and my interest in it grew further as I decided to take economics as my primary major. I enjoy the logical process of understanding how different markets in the economy and the aggregate economy itself work. Examining how markets could be more efficient for consumers and producers; how the aggregate economy could affect the lives of people in it; how government policies can correct market inefficiencies and improve overall welfare and living standards very much appeals to me. Then, I became interested in data as well when I took an introductory econometrics subject as part of my economics degree. I learned how sophisticated data handling and analysis can be used to derive various insights for problem-solving, be it something related to economics or not. Throughout the advancement of my course, I started developing a deeper interest in analysing data as a means to understand the world more. Topics I have studied include: giving careful thought on conducting and interpreting predictive or causal regressions using cross-sectional and panel data, data visualisation, and time series modeling using data on interest rate in R. While my analytics skills are that of a beginner at the moment and there are many that I have yet to learn, I’m super keen on learning the skills needed to progress in market research and data analytics long-term in my free time or on the job. In addition, I also study and can communicate in Japanese.
