About Youri Straver

I work as an editor and producer for the classical music department of Dutch public broadcaster NTR. I am editor and producer for 'Het Avondconcert'(The Evening Concert) and I am responsible for the Saturday edition of 'Podium', both broadcasted on NPO Klassiek. From January 2020 until May 2021 I worked as an editor for tv talkshow Podium Witteman. Classical music, special stories, young talents and world class musicians - every Sunday afternoon on NPO 2. Before I joined the team of Podium Witteman, I worked at the classical radio department of AVROTROS. I was an editor and producer for the cultural talkshow Opium and the popular morning show De Klassieken. And on Sunday afternoons I was often responsible for live concert broadcasts from the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam or De Doelen in Rotterdam. I also worked as a freelance journalist for different clients - Opium TV and Volle Zalen among others. Together with three friends I made a documentary about the Grand Depart of the Tour de France in Utrecht in 2015. The film was broadcasted primetime by NOS. In 2012 and 2013 I filmed in Lebanon for a documentary project as part of my studies. The film, War Calls, was broadcasted by NPO Doc in the series Makers Van Morgen. Whenever I’m not working I like to run or go road cycling with friends. I also read a lot, but still can’t keep up with the growing piles of books at home. I like playing the piano as well. I hold a bachelor in Journalism from the School of Journalism in Utrecht and in my spare time I took some courses in different subjects of philosophy at the Radboud University in Nijmegen.
