About Yuki Ikeda

I am currently in my second year of the doctoral program with a research focus on the improvement of teacher learning environment, utilizing an alternative teacher training program at Teach For Japan(TFJ), where I serve as a staff member, as a research field. My passion is dedicated to bridging the gap between research and real-world application to enhance learning environments. Having earned a bachelor's degree in Education, I embarked on a three-year career with a major trading company in Japan after graduating from Waseda University in 2010. However, driven by my passion for education, I underwent a career transition, taking on part-time roles at the Ministry of Education (MEXT) and various educational organizations from 2013 to 2014. In 2015, I participated in the TFJ fellowship program, where I was assigned to a public elementary school in a rural area of Japan. With three years of valuable teaching experience, I expanded my career in education through roles in private schools and an education-focused startup company. Recognizing the crucial importance of understanding “how people learn” to improve educational practices, I made the decision to pursue graduate studies in 2019. Simultaneously, I joined TFJ as a staff member to get involved in teacher training programs. Opting to work under the guidance of Prof. Masukawa, a distinguished researcher in the learning sciences with active involvement in school settings and MEXT, I commenced research during my master's program. Since beginning my doctoral program in 2022, my commitment to advancing this research has remained steadfast.
