Background

About Yuksel Celik

My passion lies in researching and developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)-driven systems that address real-world cybersecurity and optimization challenges at scale. With over 20 years of experience across academia, applied research, and software development, I specialize in building intelligent, secure, and efficient solutions for digital transformation. As an Associate Professor, AI Scientist, and Software Engineer, I have led multidisciplinary teams and collaborated with universities and industry partners on cutting-edge topics such as intrusion detection, anomaly detection in log analysis, deepfake video detection, and real-time AI solutions for cybersecurity, digital forensics, and smart systems. My research integrates deep learning, optimization algorithms (e.g, PSO, ACO, WOA), and hybrid intelligent systems, many of which are published in peer-reviewed journals such as Computers & Security, Electronics, and Multimedia Tools and Applications. I’ve also mentored PhD and MSc students, supervised AI-focused theses, and contributed to EU-funded innovation projects. I enjoy transforming theoretical research into high-impact applications through C, C++, C#, Java, Python, PHP (Laravel/Symfony/CodeIgniter), JavaScript, and SQL technologies. I’m also passionate about building inclusive, innovative, and high-performing environments, mentoring talent, and continuously advancing the boundaries of AI and cybersecurity. Currently, I contribute to cybersecurity research and education at the University at Albany (SUNY), while maintaining strong academic and technical engagement globally.
