About Yurui Chen

As a research assistant at Columbia University, I am passionate about advancing the knowledge and applications of fluid-structure interaction, a field that combines fluid dynamics, solid mechanics, and numerical methods. I have been working on this topic for more than three years, under the supervision of Professor Vijay Vedula, a renowned expert in the field. My research involves developing and implementing novel finite difference methods to solve complex problems involving fluid-structure coupling, such as vortex-induced vibrations, aeroelasticity, and blood flow. I have published multiple papers in prestigious journals and conferences, and have received several awards and grants for my work. I am also a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University, where I obtained my master's degree in the same field. I have a strong background in energy and power engineering, which I studied at Tsinghua University, one of the top universities in China. I have excellent skills in Python, MATLAB, and C++, as well as in analytical and computational modeling, data analysis, and visualization. I am eager to collaborate with other researchers and practitioners in the field, and to apply my skills and knowledge to real-world challenges and opportunities.
