Background

About Yusra S.

My connection to the land and justice work transcends borders, and is characterized by my international experience and upbringing.I grew up in Kuwait, and now live in Canada, and I can bring diverse perspectives to the table. I deeply value the various approaches to social justice across different regions and cultures, and have prioritised engaging in conversations with my wider network and international connections. Having worked in various sectors, I deeply value the contribution that diverse communities bring to the fight for global justice. As a young advocate who has participated in COP27 & COP28, I know that collaborating with these multiple stakeholders is key in advancing the social and climate justice fields, and that meaningful collaboration requires sincere relationship-building, as well as enhanced skills in negotiation and conflict resolution. I am a firm believer that building partnerships, equitable participation and fostering safe and inclusive spaces are key to achieving successful negotiations and sustainable solutions. In addition to these experiences, I have also developed a strong background in political environments, liaising with government officials, and attending youth roundtables and international forums. I also actively work in anti-sex trafficking efforts and mitigate conflict in challenging environments. I love presenting information, and I am formally trained in Public Speaking and Communication through the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA).I am dedicated to committing my skills in justice advocacy and conflict resolution by mobilising innovative initiatives and strategies that celebrate diverse communities.
