About Yusuke Inoue

After graduating from university in 2005, I joined the Ministry of Finance as a government official, working at the Customs and Tariff Bureau of the Ministry. At the Ministry of Finance, I was involved in policy making for Japan Customs, management, risk management, negotiations on customs and trade facilitation at some international forum, such as APEC,WTO and WCO, technical assistance to developing Customs abroad, and information exchange with relevant foreign Customs. From 2019, I was seconded to an international organization (in Belgium, World Customs Organization) as a representative intellectual property expert from Japan. I was involved in establishing international standards for intellectual property enforcement, planning, and managing various international meetings, making policy recommendations to executives of Customs in WCO member countries. I have an experience as a speaker and presenter at conferences and panels, invited by other international organizations and governments. In June 2023, I returned to Japan from Belgium and rejoined the Ministry of Finance. In July of the same year, I was seconded to the Personal Information Protection Commission of the Cabinet Office. As a senior assistant, I managed the department and led discussions for international cooperation with G7 countries and others.
