As a Core Controls Engineer at Nexteer Automotive, I specialize in reviewing and ensuring the compliance of electrical schematics, fluid power schematics, PLC programming logic, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) files. I focus on minimizing hazards to employees while ensuring that machines adhere to strict international standards, such as IEC 60204-1, ISO 12100, ISO 13849-1, ISO 4413, ISO 4414, ANSI/RIA R15.06, and NFPA 70E. My role integrates general principles of design and best practices to create safe, efficient systems that are easy to maintain for long-term operational reliability, while also aligning with Nexteer’s internal specifications for consistency across manufacturing processes. By ensuring systems are both safe and efficient, I contribute to enhanced production uptime, reduced operational costs, and overall production efficiency across the organization. Serving as the bridge between plant manufacturing engineers, machine builders, and mechanical manufacturing teams, I ensure seamless collaboration across all stages of the machine lifecycle—from design through implementation to long-term operation. In my day-to-day work, I use CAD software and PDF Exchange Editor to review drawings, and Studio Logic Designer and FactoryTalk View ME to evaluate PLC logic and HMI files, enabling me to deliver reliable, high-performance systems.
