In my role as a writer and columnist for both The Campus Citizen and the Sports Capital Journalism program, I learned to quickly adapt to urgent deadlines while also being precise and accurate in my reporting and writing, particularly at the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four. After being promoted to sports editor at The Campus Citizen, leadership roles were required of me when it came to conducting weekly pitch meetings and proofreading articles.Throughout my time interning with the Indianapolis Star, my communication skills were greatly enhanced, both on the phone and in a studio atmosphere. Conversing with coaches and administrators over the phone after Friday night football games forced me to work quickly and efficiently. During live broadcasts, a fast-paced and detail-oriented mindset was critical and essential.As the host and producer of the Circle City Chatroom podcast, I have learned how to effectively schedule guests in a timely manner while also organizing points of discussion for each episode. My editing skills were also put to the test during the post-production process, where I edited episodes through Adobe Premiere Pro for publication and public consumption.
