Zach is a higher education specialist with specific focus on engineering education and language and literacy. He has extensive experience with higher education research and teaching and learning. Zach is committed to enhancing teaching and learning in higher education, generally, and in engineering education, specifically. To this end, he is the Editor-in-Chief of SOTL in the South, an international, accredited journal aimed at promoting scholarship in teaching and learning (SOTL) in the global South. He teaches communication at undergraduate engineering level, teaches and supervises at postgraduate level, and mentors the UJ-Civils Student Society. Zach has also published widely on higher education, engineering education, academic literacy and social semiotics.
