About Zachary Plimpton

During my time at Georgia Tech, I have been seeking out opportunities to improve my knowledge and gain experience in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. Since the Fall of 2021, I have been a member of staff at the Materials Innovation and Learning Lab, a student-run maker space containing a variety of equipment used in materials characterization, measuring, and processing. As a member of the processing team, my main task is to oversee the lineup of 3D printers we have and help students that wish to use them for their class projects or research. In addition to working as a processing team member, I am also a safety officer that oversees the basic day-to-day safety procedures. This requires working as a team to ensure everything goes smoothly for everyone in the MILL, staff and users alike.Additionally, I have worked as an undergraduate research assistant where I obtained valuable hands-on experience in materials testing and analysis. Now that my time as a student at Tech is nearing the end, I am looking for opportunities to broaden my horizons with even more valuable experiences that will help me transition from my student life into a career.
