Over the past six years, I’ve finely honed my craft in compassionate leadership, as is demonstrated through my position as a quality assurance specialist at Cash App. While there, I discovered it’s important to lead with transparency – cueing my teams and leads into the larger picture of continued progress, thus sharing with them the opportunity to take group ownership of the Cash Risk QA process. Every day is a new puzzle to be solved – how I facilitate weekly calibration meetings to lead my peers to team alignment; what daily metrics I set for myself to meet monthly goals; and how I provide feedback to my peers by communicating clear next steps, while also inspiring them with my personal brand of earnest dedication towards forward growth. My knack for collaborative teamwork comes from a combination of various leadership positions I’ve held in addition to my love for collective artistic endeavors. I work collaboratively with others by combining active listening, offering ideas from experience, and making active efforts to embrace others’ inputs in order to make the most of them. As a shift supervisor for Starbucks, I was responsible for managing an entire store of baristas, where each day provided new opportunities to balance my partners’ developmental journeys with variable flows in customer traffic. In teaching Theatre for Social Change, my role was to facilitate a back-and-forth between the education of social change tenants while letting the students inform me of what life was like in their shoes. Similarly, as a teaching assistant for Designing Creativity courses, I worked with college students and their ideas to create systems of aid for communities in need by listening to their thought processes and posing questions, bringing them to concrete applications of their original ideations. Continually bringing my self-motivated attitude to work is paramount. I am unafraid to ask questions in order to reach a greater understanding of my work goals and routines. I strive for compassionate understanding in group meetings – whether they be one-on-one or company-wide – especially when it comes to supporting others in expanding their ideas. I’m at ease when exploring issues critically, as well as promptly making decisions when time is of the essence. Most of all, I am fearless when facing failure. I welcome the journey of self-improvement and applying what I learn to my everyday work.
