About Zack Brisson

I’m focused on social progress. I’m frustrated because I want our social fabric to sustainably serve the needs of the majority of people. Yet it isn’t, despite the progress in our fundamental capabilities. We deserve better. So I’ve spent my modest human energy trying to play a small role in addressing these systemic challenges. Reboot’s my current gambit. In short, Reboot is a social innovation firm that doesn't fit any easy ‘box’. We built the organization on the belief that more voices must be heard for any social contract to hold. We work with change agents we believe in to advance progress. Those efforts can range from criminal justice reform in the US to fighting public financial corruption globally. We’re lucky to partner with reformers among the world’s most influential organizations of all types. Our model is to advance human equality working with allies, whether in government, media, or civil society. In my role, I straddle 'smoky backroom lobbyist' and sometimes throwing rocks with advocacy partners. Always, fighting for a world that makes more sense than the one we have now. Earlier I tried more established routes. I began at National Geographic; I was undeservedly lucky for great fun like leading the 1st internal Innovation Team. Then I was at the Center for American Progress as President Obama took office. Again lucky for great learning on the sausage making of policy and how to advance it. Maybe too much. The political incentives and institutional structures of DC disappointed. I needed to find a different path. So for the past 8 years that's led to the passion for change that is Reboot. We’re modest but sincere in our efforts. I’m lucky to work with the most inspiring teams able to get one out of bed ready to keep moving forward. Whatever my career is, comes from all they’ve taught me. Other interests: teaching a university module: ‘So you want to start a revolution?’, my library, and the observing of endlessly fascinating human nature.
