About Zack McBriarty

I am an Acting Tactical Team Lead with the Nuclear Response Team at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station with over a decade of combined experience as a Tactical Armed Responder and Police Officer. My policing career is highlighted with a provincially recognized history of excellence in the apprehension and investigation of impaired driving offenses. In September of 2015 I was awarded with a Chief's Commendation for rescuing a suicidal female from the South Saskatchewan River. In 2014 and 2015 I received certificates of recognition from the RCMP 'K' division for my excellence in the detection and apprehension of impaired drivers. I have been previously certified as a qualified breath technician with the Medicine Hat and Summerside Police Services, and as an Active Threat Instructor through the Atlantic Police Academy. In April of 2018 I made a switch to the private sector and was trained as a Tactical Officer with the Nuclear Response Team at the Point Lepreau Generating Station. This training has provided significant insight and experience with tactical team movements, active shooter tactics and immediate action/rapid deployment strategies This training has also aided to further develop my understanding and experience with the containment of volatile, high risk situations.
