About Zafar Anwar

As a PhD candidate in bio-inspired robotics at Penn State University, I am passionate about developing novel and efficient solutions for complex and dynamic problems in robotics, using insights from nature and biology. I have been working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the BioRob-InFL lab, where I have contributed to several cutting-edge projects, such as optimizing video object tracking with contrastive learning and object detection, enhancing flapping wing flight control with reinforcement learning and model predictive control, and investigating control mechanisms in calliope hummingbirds. I have a strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering, having obtained my MS in Electrical Engineering and my BTech in Mechanical Engineering from PSU and IIT Delhi respectively. I am proficient in various skills, such as computer vision, image processing, transfer learning, contrastive learning, object detection, reinforcement learning, model predictive control, dynamic modelling and simulation, mode decomposition, rigid body modelling, time series, stability analysis, path planning, motion planning, control and optimization, dynamic time wrapping, expectation maximization, and physical modelling.
