About Zaihong Guan

Born in 1984, married, good health. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Dalian University of Technology (DUT) in 2007. I got the highest GPA in my department during college and I was awarded the qualification to study in Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) without entrance exam. My research work in DICP mainly focused on heterogeneous catalysis, supervised by Academician Prof. Can Li. During my PhD period, I published three academic papers on TOP journal in catalysis field and filed one Chinese Invention Patent. I was responsible for two projects founded by National Natural Science Foudation of China (NSFC) for three years. Got project management professional credential from PMI Global in 2015. After getting my PhD in 2013, I joined BP (China) Holdings Limited Dalian Branch, BP-Dalian Energy Innovation Laboratory with a job title of Chemist. My role includes: manage and develop research projects in energy and petrochemical; provide expertise in commissioning, operation and maintenance of advanced multi-channel reactor systems; independently design and carry on experimental work in assigned research program; present results/know-hows in written experimental/technical reports. Now I am the tool owner of one high throughput equipment with a price over US$ 1.5 million. Using this equipment, I’m in charge of a BP internal “TOP Priority” project that supports company’s petrochemical business. Manage/engaged in key projects collaborated on syngas utilization, biomass conversion, natural gas conversion and utilization, light alkenes production, heavy oil processing, ethanol and biodiesel production etc. I’m also monitoring the research intelligence relevant to BP business. Experienced in international cooperation, have close contacts with BP other R&D departments.
