About Zainab Dambazau

As a One Health Consultant, I apply my expertise in infectious diseases, public health, and epidemiology to conduct an in-depth review of Nigerian One Health systems, with a focus on optimizing disease surveillance and response. I have over seven years of experience in the veterinary and public health sectors, working with various stakeholders to improve health outcomes for humans, animals, and the environment. I am passionate about One Health approaches, as they reflect my values of collaboration, evidence-based solutions, and social justice. In my role as a Senior Veterinary Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture & Natural Resources in Kano, I actively represented and advocated for One Health at meetings, workshops, and strategic planning processes. I have had the honor of representing the ministry at critical One Health workshops, including the domestication of the National Action Plan on Public Health Security in Kano State and the Kano State Joint External Evaluation exercise. is this clear I also developed a unique perspective on the interconnectivity of One Health engaging with key high-level working group representatives, field level workers, and community healthcare workers. I am eager to leverage my diverse skill set and knowledge to contribute to One Health.
