Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” ~Maya Angelou Zaira Sylvain is an Ithaca College alum with a B.S. in Biochemistry. She is a determined, purposeful, and amenable individual who enjoys helping people and organizations reach their goals. Through her collaborative and driven mindset, she takes pride in representing her employer and operating as a team to yield success and longevity. During her final year at Ithaca College, she developed a research plan focused on identifying biochemical markers for the early prediction of preeclampsia. She is currently pursuing her master's degree part-time in molecular medicine at Drexel University with hopes to advance preeclampsia research, advocate for those diagnosed later in their pregnancies, improve the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) and work toward overcoming the unacceptable inequity in the field. With a passion for combining innovative science with social justice to provide quality healthcare for all, Zaira's long-term goal includes research and a career in obstetrics to better understand the physiology of complex pregnancies. Her downtime activities include collecting vinyl records, cooking, reading literature, and enjoying the company of those around her.
