I have been interested in computing and IT since the young age of 5 Working as an assistant Computer Admin at school in my school holidays while in college to starting my career as a Laptop Repair engineer, I decided to branch out a bit and bought my first server from Trade Me. From there my skillset took off! Starting with learning the Windows server stack through to Hyper-Visors such as ESXi. I had the opportunity to start my certification process with VMWare while working as a Client Services Engineer at Kiwibank, Successfully passing that my interest in Cloud and hosting really started to flourish from there and my passion really started to set in! Moving around a few small IT houses around Wellington, I begun working for Dimension Data as a Service desk engineer where I managed to climb the ladder into Senior System Admin assigned my own client to champion and not only help but also learn Azure and Office 365 as they were the first at Dimension Data to adopt Azure and Office365 so was often used as the point of contact for cloud services. Leaving Dimension Data I started at Intergen as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer where I had the opportunity to run the Internal Cloud Platform along side Migrating thousands of customers to Microsoft Azure and/or Hybridize their current platforms. Unfortunately Covid landed and was let go. Given the opportunity to reevaluate my position during lockdown I had the opportunity to start and run my own Media Streaming Platform using the toolset I had learnt during my career as well as a bunch of other tools I had developed and managed myself. A big part of it was adopting containerization. During Lockdown I branched out and started to use Docker and Linux more and more as it was a toolset I never really needed to use during my career. Given a lot of my tools I use are Linux based I still use windows and server products in many different places. I have been progressing through the Cisco Boost Cyber Security program as well as paying for Hack the Box Pro and pen testing through a number of Virtual machines with known vulnerabilities as well as webservers and SQL servers. I will be sitting my Cisco CBROPS 200-201 Exam in 2022 once I have completed some real world experience in the job. I would also like to sit Security+ certs too
