Background

About Zara Sims

I’m Zara Sims, a passionate and results-driven Director and Coach with over 10 years of experience in building impactful programs across the non-profit and educational sectors. My journey began with a deep commitment to social justice and equity, and I’ve dedicated my career to creating opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive. Throughout my career, I’ve spearheaded Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, provided trauma-informed supportive services, and led training and development efforts that have transformed lives. Whether I’m managing programs, setting strategic budgets, or guiding community outreach efforts, my focus is always on meeting people where they are—empowering them to achieve their full potential. I pride myself on being emotionally intelligent and adaptable, always striving to exceed stakeholder expectations while fostering a culture of inclusivity and lifelong learning. My “Boots on the Ground” approach ensures that I remain connected to the communities I serve, and I continuously seek out innovative ways to uplift others. In addition to my work, I am a qualified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), an assessment that measures intercultural competence—our ability to shift cultural perspectives and adapt behaviors to cultural differences and commonalities. I use the IDI to help individuals, small teams, and large organizations develop intercultural competency, whether in the nonprofit sector, corporate world, government agencies, or educational institutions. The IDI plays a vital role in faculty and staff development, student programs, and study abroad initiatives, enhancing intercultural understanding across all levels. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Chestnut Hill College, a Master of Education in School Counseling from Wilmington University, and I’ve completed a post-master’s certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from the University of North Georgia. My mission is simple: to transform lives and careers through self-realization, actualization, and the power of education. If you’re looking for a leader who is committed to social justice, equity, and community empowerment, let’s connect. I’m always eager to collaborate with like-minded professionals who share my vision of creating a more just and inclusive world.
