About Zeenal Vajrinkar

I am a wildlife biologist with a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, with extensive experience in field-based research and conservation initiatives across India. Since the completion of my postgraduate studies, I have actively contributed to research and conservation efforts addressing critical challenges related to biodiversity loss, human-wildlife conflict, and climate change. My professional focus is on developing and implementing sustainable, science-based solutions that support biodiversity conservation and foster human-wildlife coexistence. My research portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum of taxa, including the Giant Squirrel, Sloth Bear, Indian Fox, Golden Jackal, Striped Hyena, Vultures, and various small mammal species. I have conducted ecological studies in remote and ecologically sensitive landscapes, employing methodologies such as occupancy surveys, behavioral research, population density estimation, captive breeding assessments, and conflict mitigation strategies. My work also includes mapping anthropogenic pressures, designing conservation frameworks, and leading outreach initiatives to enhance community awareness and engagement in both protected and non-protected areas. I possess a strong interest in core field research and the application of advanced ecological techniques such as state of art technology (Drone and AI), mark-recapture analysis, camera trapping, ecological studies and biodiversity studies. While my strengths lie in on-ground research and project management, I remain committed to expanding my skill set through emerging methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches. I am adept at coordinating with diverse stakeholders, including governmental agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to co-develop conservation strategies grounded in ecological science and socio-cultural realities. Beyond my professional endeavors, I am an avid traveler with a deep appreciation for nature and cultural diversity. I enjoy exploring new regions, engaging with local communities, and learning from their traditional ecological knowledge and lifestyles. My adaptability and enthusiasm for cross-cultural experiences allow me to work effectively in varied and dynamic environments.
