Background
About Zella Ford
Having served in numerous positions as an educator over the past 21 years, my core beliefs remain unchanged. I believe that students arrive to school daily prepared for learning. I also believe that it is our responsibility to provide students with the necessary tools and a safe, secure environment which is conducive to learning. In order for true learning to take place, students must have their basic needs met. It is my belief that we are accountable for making sure the basic needs of students are met before they can completely concentrate on the learning process. Accountability begins with us as educators pooling and maximizing resources that we have in our districts, schools, and communities. Our students desire to have a sense of belonging which can be accomplished by providing a culture of collaboration among students, administrators, teachers, staff and parents. I also believe that it is important for me as district administrator/ supervisor to communicate with our principals and teachers and interact daily by acknowledging their concerns and continuing support leadership within the school community. I further believe that students should be active participants in the learning process. The school should promote diversity, encourage creativity, provide student leadership opportunities, and develop self-confidence. School should be a place where learning, instruction, attendance, and data driven decisions are top priority. Students must be provided with a school which has organization, structure, set appropriate boundaries, clearly defined rules, policies and expectations and must carry out these plans in a fair, consistent, and expedient manner. Therefore, as educators we much provide learning opportunities which are student centered and include activities that engage our technology savvy generation of learners. As we prepare students for life-long learning, we must also provide a rigorous and relevant curriculum to create enthusiasm for learning.
