About Zenia Hellgren
I am a Doctor of Sociology, accredited Associate Professor and Senior researcher/lecturer at the Pompeu Fabra University and the Barcelona School of Management. My research addresses the intersections between inequalities and diversity, with specific focus on ethnic/racial discrimination. In this framework, I am particularly interested in the gaps between policies and actual practices of inclusion and non-discrimination. I have designed and led numerous international research projects, often applying a participatory action methodology. My research aims to be transformative both at the academic and societal levels, and I collaborate regularly with policymakers and organized civil society. Currently, I am a member of the Barcelona City Council’s Commission for Anti-racism, participating in the design of Barcelona City’s municipal plan against racism 2025-2035.
