Why should we support decisions through financial insights?""How could we get financial insights via data analysis?""What aspects should be considered when doing data analysis?" Writing my undergraduate dissertation is my starting point to transfer data analysis into financial insights. In my dissertation, I have taken in-depth research about the relationship between corporate innovation performance and ESG ratings, based on non-financial listed companies in China from 2009 to 2021. I use mediation analysis to test the relationship, and further Sobel-Goodman and Bootstrap methods if not significant. The dissertation concluded that corporates could increase its innovation capabilities through improving their ESG performance. This experience has significantly aroused my interest in the process from data analysis to financial thinking. My working experience in New Energy Vehicles(NEVs) sector shows me the real impact of data analysis on business decisions. I have conducted in-depth analysis of all available data, including financial statements, data from press conferences or interviews, and communicate with all relevant department, like Marketing and Accounting, for their ideas of feasibility. My contributions supported strategic investment decisions in 3 NEV companies, directly contributing to an overall portfolio return increase of +/- 30%. This experience has largely improved my data analysis skills and strengthened my resolve to contribute to financial analysis.
