About Zoe Ferdman

I am a rising senior at Adelphi University majoring in Art and Design Education. I have always been interested in teaching art and have years of experience working with elementary school aged children. I am also currently working as a part time substitute teacher at Seely Place School. Through these diverse experiences, I have developed a strong understanding of working closely with children in elementary school and day camp settings, honing my problem-solving and communication skills with both colleagues and educators. Engaging in art activities with children and volunteering in classrooms has significantly enhanced my patience, discipline, and ability to build meaningful relationships with students, co-workers, and teachers alike. My internships at Fox Meadow Elementary School with 4th grade and kindergarten, Seely Place School working alongside the art teacher, as well as my role at the Weinberg Nature Center (Animal Visions Camp) for summer 2024, have all contributed to my growing expertise. Additionally, my experiences as a CIT for two summers at the JCC, a camp counselor at Scarsdale Rec Camp (summer 2023), and the art specialist for three summers have provided me with valuable insight into the daily responsibilities of a teacher and counselor. These experiences have deepened my passion for teaching art and strengthened my interest in working with elementary school students. My goals are to come up with fun and engaging lesson plans/art projects for children, showing up with a positive attitude, and to enhance my teaching methods.
