About Zoe Pye

With 20 years of experience in finance, my recent focus has been on sustainability, climate change, risk, and regulation. I've recently taken on the role of Head of Sector Financial institutions/Markets in the Environment and Sustainability Department at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), where I oversee environment and sustainability due diligence for financial institution projects and activities.Before joining EBRD, I led bank reviews for the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), a role that involved 153 member bank reviews across 115 institutions. Reporting on the progress of 325 members in the Principles for Responsible Banking second biennial progress report was a significant achievement during my time there.Before my time at UNEP FI, I led the Climate Risk Specialisation team in the Bank of England's International Banks Supervision division, amongst other roles, mainly in risk. My earlier experience includes managing global teams in over-the-counter derivatives at J.P. Morgan and Northern Trust. I covered regions like Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the United States.My educational background encompasses a range of qualifications, including a Chartered Global Management Accountant certification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Certified Financial Risk Manager designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals, and certificates in Sustainable Finance and Sustainability and Climate Risk from the University of Cambridge and the Global Association of Risk Professionals respectively. Additionally, I hold a Master of Business Accounting from the University of South Australia and a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Adelaide.Outside of work, I love being in nature, particularly drawn to mountain activities. Running is a passion, and I've completed several marathons and ultra-marathons, including the Marathon Des Sables, Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB), and the Polar Circle Marathon in Greenland. Mountaineering is another pursuit, with successful ascents of Mont Blanc (most recently with skis) and Monte Rosa. I look forward to connecting with you!
