No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world…’After a brilliant career at the BBC, my life changed when I became a Mother. It was such an amazing privilege, yet when it came to work: there was such a lack of support. The sleeplessness & worry that comes with having a small child made it difficult for me to fully focus, and I knew there were so many in the same boat at me. Passionate about wellbeing, I soon went on to set up ‘Parents Matter’ which helped companies engage with working parents by putting on in-house events & seminars tackling key challenges for new Mum’s and Dad’s.As the years went on, companies soon asked for more initiatives out of the parenting sphere and it was at this stage that it made sense to expand to ‘Employees Matter’, with the vital understanding that all staff need support and engagement, not just parents. With this in mind, we began to run new, innovative workshops. One was, ‘Bring Your Child to Work Days’ – a fun and interactive day for children to learn more about the world of work, whilst parents can continue with their usual work without having to worry. It’s become incredibly effective and we now run these all over the UK, alongside other seminars and webinars that really focus on thinking outside the box to engage.‘We can’t help everyone but everyone can help someone.’Nothing is better than being able to spend your life doing the things you love, and for me- I couldn’t ask for work that is more rewarding. Employees Matter has grown to become the leading provider of expert support for HR departments who want to help their employees bridge the gap between work and life. I see the difference it makes in people’s lives and it fuels my passion, motivation & aspiration to keep growing it to give more opportunities to people and businesses, worldwide.In 2017 I co-founded workplace mental health conference This Can Happen. I am passionate about helping both employers and employees find solutions to create stigma-free, open and considerate environments to work in where people can be open about their mental health.
