About Zoe Thomas

I am a Junior at the University of Washington studying Art History. Last year, I completed an art gallery internship in Dublin, Ireland. While there, I had the opportunity to work with artists and assist the gallery owner in curating and hanging exhibitions. I also worked with guests and helped create promotional materials for the gallery. After acquiring new knowledge about commercial galleries and museums in an international setting, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in art and museum studies. After working in Ireland, I solo backpacked through Europe with the sole purpose of exploring museums. I gazed at masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s “Madonna of Brugge” and Eugène Delacroix’s “Liberty” and realized the importance of art. I learned about history through art, which provides a more personal and emotional interpretation of the past. Stories that were once only facts came alive. Since returning from Europe, I have volunteered at the Seattle Art Museum and completed multiple Art History courses through North Seattle College. I will be attending the University of Washington beginning in January 2024. I am especially interested in the effect art has on people who view and experience it. I am currently looking for professionals to connect with in this industry to explore what potential jobs look like.
