About Zoe Thomas

As a dedicated and highly motivated law student, I currently serve as the Women's Representative at Queen Mary University, where I advocate for gender equality and inclusivity. I am honoured to also be a graduate of the Prince's Trust and an official delegate for UN Women (UK) at the 67th Commission on the Status of Women. My governance experience extends to my role on the Board of Council of Governors for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. In this capacity, I contribute to shaping the organisation's strategic vision and rigorously scrutinise the performance of non-executive directors to ensure that they remain accountable to the Board. Across all of my voluntary roles, I consistently demonstrate an unwavering commitment to integrity, adaptability, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong sense of accountability. I am motivated by a long-standing sense of moral justice. I am deeply committed to advocating for the under-represented and marginalised communities. My passion for legal practice is not confined simply the acquisition of legal knowledge; what I find most interesting and the elements of legal practice I have enjoyed the most through my work experience are the art of the application of the law and seeking to persuade others that the client’s view is the correct one. Through my studies and my work experience, I have come to appreciate that one of the primary skills in legal practice relates to effective advocacy and negotiation. My voluntary work has given me real-life experience of advocating for others – not in a legal sense, but very much in a moral one. It is this fusion of the moral, legal and practical consequences of everyday life that drives my passion to qualify as a solicitor. I can get my head around large amounts of data quickly and I’m used to working both with charitable organisations and in very fast-paced environments. This includes being able to react at short notice to emerging deadlines and to adapt to irregular working hours, all the while maintaining the highest levels of attention to detail and client confidentiality.
