About Zoe Walker

I am currently a research lab assistant and sessional instructor in the Department of Geography at the University of Calgary. I am currently working on my Ph.D in geography pedagogy, specifically how students learn while in the field. My master's research focused on understanding the quantity and emission potential of the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide and methane that accumulate under the ice of Arctic lakes near Cambridge Bay-Ikaluktutiak, Nunavut. I have substantial experience in both field and lab work in the environmental field, in addition to working in remote environments. Additional skills include Microsoft Office Suite programs, ArcGIS, SNAP, and Teamwork software as well as various forms of written communication including technical reports and research papers. I also have a passion for teaching and learning. I've completed numerous courses through the Taylor Institute of teaching and learning and have enjoyed applying what I have learned in both my sessional and teaching assistant roles. Outside of research and teaching, I have a passion for the outdoors, food preservation, tending my houseplants and anything and everything related to The Lord of the Rings.
