About Zoheb Nasir

I am currently appointed as a Wind Engineer in the Research and Model Development in AIR-Worldwide which is a Catastrophe Modeling and Risk Assessment based Insurance Company. Although I completed my MESc and PhD from a Canadian University, I am currently working in Boston, USA As an expert in Numerical modeling, one of the major responsibilities of my current position is to analyze the impact of hurricane wind flow over typical US construction based single family home. The representative buildings are of different roof shape, aspect ratio, height etc. One of the main feature of my Ph.D. thesis is the Numerical Modeling of Tornado-like Vortex and its interaction with buildings of different height. In my research work, I simulated a mechanically driven tornado using numerical simulation. In addition to this, I was also successful in simulating a F-2 scale tornado in a closed-loop domain of Dome replicating the actual one and then perform some apple to apple comparison of several aerodynamic parameters. The comparison was very satisfactory and also indicates that, me myself not only enjoy numerical modeling, also very efficient in doing such. In addition to the numerical modeling, I also gathered experience in laboratory experiments. As a member of I found myself fortunate enough to get involved in several wind related projects, which includes: ABL flow over low and high rise building, Effect of Downburst over Transmission line towers. During my MESc, I physically built a shallow channel to analyse the impact of Internal Three-Dimensional Hydraulic Jump. Later the results form the experiments were verified by the fluid dynamic solutions. Having vast knowledge in the basics of fluid dynamics makes me confident and comfortable enough to transfer my ideas into both experimental and numerical models.
