About Zoie Kaley

I graduated May 2017 from the Silver School of Social Work at New York University. I completed my first internship at Hetrick Martin institute where I conducted one-on-one service planning sessions as assigned for a caseload of 8-10 LGBTQ youth with severe mental illnesses and co-occurring medical conditions and/or substance abuse in the High School equivalency program. I completed my second internship as a social work student at the Outpatient Behavioral Health Department at Coney Island Hospital. I had a caseload of ten youth between the ages of 5-16, two adults, and I co-facilitated a wellness group of severely mentally ill older adults. A majority of the patients I worked with have behavioral and mental health issues stemming from severe histories of trauma. I believe so strongly in the work that I do. I put everything I have into the work I do in order to provide the best service I possibly can to my patients. Through my work, I have become more aware of the value that social work provides, as well as how I could deliver more value to those I work with by learning new material, passing on the new material, staying enthusiastic, proactive, and diligent. Who I want to be, the lives I want to touch, and my career choice are in harmony. I am highly committed to furthering my knowledge in social work. My interest extends beyond being a successful student and social worker - I want to be an active member of the profession, involved in the research of trauma, cognitive behavior, play therapy, and social work services. I hope to provide findings that will be valued by other professionals in the field, and ultimately impact their clients.
