About Zoie Smith

A current dual degree Masters student at George Mason University's Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Studies and the University of Malta. Based in Valletta, Malta I will obtain a MS in Conflict Resolution and MA in Mediterranean Security. My dissertation focuses on the democratic transition process of war-time political entrprenuers and their influence on the peace process and post-conflict transition. Additionally, I'm actively working in the Carter School's Sustainable Peace Lab, under Dr. Karina Korostelina, as a research assistant examining the role of identity management in the post-conflict peace process. With extensive background in research and a passion for conflict analysis, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding practices, I hope to apply these skills in the field of conflict analysis and risk assessment, migration, human rights, and/or law. I am actively pursuing post-graduate opportunities both in Europe and the United States in law, NGOs, and global governance institutions. A May 2024 graduate of Bucknell University. I graduated with honors, while being an NCAA DI Athlete. As a former student-athlete I have learned excellent time management skills having balanced a 20-hour/week softball schedule on top of my academics and extracurriculars. This experience has made me extremely comfortable in fast-paced team and individual environments in both leadership and supporting roles.
