His wife's first generation Sicilian family grew up in Stamford with her six sisters. Their home was where Toyota of Stamford's showroom stands today. In 1969 John McKale took what was seen, at the time, as a very big risk and purchased one of the first Toyota franchises in the United States. The rest is history. Toyota of Stamford has been family owned and operated for close to 50 years and the current CEO and president is William J. McKale, John's oldest son, along with William's son Duncan W. McKale.
