The Seventh-day Adventist Church (the Adventist name is a reference to its belief in the advent, the second coming of Jesus), appeared between the 1850s and 1860s concomitantly in the United States and Europe. A book entitled La Venida Del Mesias in Gloria y Majestad was printed in 1812. This publication agitated religious circles and was the forerunner of the idea that Jesus would return a second time.
