Heather Dune Macadam’s calling seems to be to write about lost girls of the Holocaust. She is the acclaimed author of the international best seller, The Extraordinary Young Women of the First Official Jewish Transport to Auschwitz, as well as being the producer/director of the documentary film The book, has been translated into 16 languages and is a Finalist for Goodreads People’s Choice Awards. Ms. Macadam is a New York Foundation of the Arts Fellow. Her first book, Rena’s Promise: A Story of Sisters in Auschwitz, is part of the North Carolina core curriculum for Holocaust and Genocide studies. Rena’s Promise started Heather Dune on this journey of working with young women who had been on the first transport. Director of the Rena’s Promise Foundation, Macadam also sat on the advisory board of the Cities of Peace Auschwitz. She is a member of PEN America, Biographers International, and the Society of Authors. Her research on the 1942 women's camp in Auschwitz is recognized Yad Vashem in the UK, the USC Shoah Foundation, the National Museum of Jewish History in Bratislava, Slovakia, and the Memorial Museum of Auschwitz in Oswiecim, Poland. She divides her time between New York and Herefordshire, England.
