Alex Russell Creative Services

Alex Russell works with coding, drawing, painting, collage and photography to make one-off prints in a range of sizes and to commission. He has developed a generative process called ApeiroPattern that uses computer programming to arrange image libraries created with traditional techniques. His code combines models of compositional methods (from art and design) with complex systems theory (from science and maths) to explore concepts of non-repeating, infinite pattern. It operates in a unique space where hand-drawing/painting, code and hardware work together, questioning the boundary between the analogue and the digital.
