Alternative Animal Bedding
Providing an affordable animal bedding solution to farmers in the Wisconsin area. Our bedding is made from the byproducts of two local manufacturing plants - short fibers from recycled office paper and dust from hydrated lime kilns. Our high pH lime aides in reducing the moisture content of the short fibers but also works to kill bacteria. Our bedding can be used in tie or free stall barns as a replacement of straw, sawdust or other materials on mats and mattresses. Some customers use our bedding in shallow or deep bedded stalls. Others use our bedding with a higher lime concentration to treat manure solids from digesters and screw presses. Many customers find our bedding to be a great addition to their calf hutches or loose housing to control odor and flies while also keeping excessive moisture in check. We are also close to rolling out a bedding groomer demo unit. This groomer is meant to "chew" through hard spots that can develop in stalls using our bedding or even manure solids. More information to come as we take it out for the first time and tweak the design as needed.
