Andi Bray

Andi Bray was born in Oceanside, California in 1990 and eventually landed in South Bend, Indiana where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Photography from Indiana University South Bend. She soon ventured out to garner experience in the art industry in New York City and found it initially with Bernstein and Andruilli and later John B. Murray. Both provided opportunities for knowledge and professionalism on a grand stage. While her work in the Manhattan art industry delivered invaluable experience, it was perhaps her time spent volunteering on a research vessel in Montauk, Long Island that most shaped her artistic vision. That coupled with countless hours immersed in the water as a competitive swimmer inspired her aquatic themed works: “Waves” and “The Dive.” Discernable in Andi’s work is her exploration of nature and how it relates to the human condition – each often a mirror for the other. Additionally, in 2019, Andi was dubbed a “colorist” in a media review of her Brooklyn exhibition, “Movement.” It’s a badge she wears proudly as she embraces vibrant acrylic hues in her work. Andi enjoys the challenge to create movement and “voice” in her work by building layers with paint. Her lens takes you up close or pulls you back for a panoramic view - as if she has an inner dialogue with nature. These nuances are eloquently expressed in her diptych and triptych pieces. As Andi’s fan base continues to grow, her work can be found in spaces around the country from L.A. to NYC. Her goal is to bring people together through the beauty of art and the conversation it generates. “Keep it colorful” is Andi’s philosophy and she celebrates that from her homebase in Columbus, Ohio where she resides with husband Rich, daughter Olivia, and faithful pup Luci.
